Beginner class synopsis:

Students will learn the basics of guitar. The different components of the guitar and proper care. Students in this class will begin to read basic notation and definitions of musical symbols. Students will also begin to build up dexterity in their fingers, work up coordination. Students will also be expected to learn simple melodic lines and partial chords.

Advanced Beginner Synopsis: 

Students in this class are expected to learn how to read basic musical notation. Also, these students are able to play simple chords and use more than one finger. Their strength and coordination in their fingers are more developed. Students know how to read quarter, half, and whole notes.

Intermediate Synopsis:

After a considerable period of time and regular guitar practice you will pass the stage of the beginner and move up to a more intermediate guitar level. You’ve acquired all the basic skills and you’re looking forward to taking things to the next step. But what does that actually mean, intermediate level? What should you be practicing now to take it even further?

Students in this class are expected to know how to read music, use all four fingers, strum different patterns using open chords.  They will learn how to sight-read basic music. This class also includes:

• Mixed Rhythms and Split Measures
• The Secret to Memorizing Songs

• How to Change Chords in The Middle of a Measure

• Lock Your Hand in With the Beat
• How to use the blues scale-Improvisation

• Notation (eighth/sixteenth notes, dotted quarter, half, whole notes)

Every student who is enrolled in my guitar courses will learn how to play guitar; Students must practice at home to ensure growth and to keep up with class curriculum. Students will also have the opportunity to perform in one of our guitar recitals. This gives the student an opportunity to show all his/her hard work.

Once the student has learned a few guitar basics, they’re able to explore their instrument and tap into their creative side.
